Board of Trustees Members 2019Mark Calder
I am locally born and raised in Invercargill and passionate about the Deep South and all that it has to offer families. I have two daughters attending Tisbury School - Xanthe (9 years) and Daisy (7 years). I've been employed as an insurance adviser for a locally owned and operated company Southsure Insurance Ltd - a subsidiary of Southland Building Society for the last 10 1/2 years and worked for New Zealand's largest telecommunications provider for five years prior to that. In my spare time, I like to take my daughters exploring around Southland and we are planning a trip to rural Victoria, Australia in October. I am also an avid sports watcher & fan. I hope that I can bring some experience to the Tisbury School Board of Trustees and look forward to helping the school achieve it's goals. Debbie Hean I am Mum to Emily (10 years) and Grayson (8 years). Emily is in her last year at Tisbury and I have been on the BOT and PTA since she started. Currently I am deputy Board Chair and have relished my time here, attending regular training and development and upskilling my knowledge in order to be an informed and positive contributing member of the board. I am immensely proud of our fabulous little school and I understand the work that goes into making a great school "Tick". I am passionate about creating a school that creates the best learning environment, allowing all of our children experience success holistically. We have been driven to create a positive culture of well being for all our staff, children and community. I have worked in sales and marketing for the last 20 years, with roles in hospitality, food service and IT. I am also a part time group fitness trainer at a local gym and love getting outdoors with the kids. I consider myself to be approachable, friendly and down to earth. I am thrilled to be sitting on the Tisbury School Board of Trustees for another term providing support to our new incoming trustees and further developing the special character of our school. Russell Jack I am an agricultural contractor, dairy farmer, husband and Dad! I was raised in Tisbury and have lived in a variety of places since but I have managed to find my way back home. Tisbury School is special to me, my dad, siblings and I attended and my Mum taught here. I currently have 1 boy attending and 2 more to come. I valve the sense of community we have here at Tisbury and look forward to giving back by being a member of the Board of Trustees. Emma Todd - Presiding Member I am married with 3 children. My older two children (Jamie 8 and Elyce 5) are currently attending Tisbury School. My younger child (Rosie 3) attends Kindergarten and will attend Tisbury School once she turns 5. I work as an accountant at Invercargill City Council and although I have not been a member of a Board in the past I believe by current role will bring great skills to the Tisbury School Board. These financial and business skills are essential for effective governance in order to help achieve the high level of student achievement that we all want for our children. Outside of school & work our family enjoys camping and seeing what Southland/Otago has to offer. Erin Wilson I am married with 3 children. My husband's name is Shane, my children are Heath (11 years), Briar (8 years) and Sian (5 years). The two younger ones currently attend Tisbury School. I have been on the Board of Trustees for six years. During this time I have held positions in Property, Vice chair and have been the Board Chair since January 2015. I am on the Stewardship group for the Community of Learning that Tisbury School is part of and I am also on the Southland Regional Executive of the New Zealand School Trustees Association. I have enjoyed my previous time on the Board and I think it is important for good succession to have a mix of new and experienced Trustees on the Board. I look forward to continuing to serve for another 3 years and seeing current projects unfold. |
